Russian retailer Magnit is trialling a payment program utilising facial recognition, its head of technology has told a digital retail conference. The scheme is under test in Moscow and has been implemented this week. It uses the Magnit app, into which participants must register their personal details along with a suitable image of themselves. It is not yet known how long the trial will last or the exact details of how payments will be made, whether this is using in-store cameras or a system at checkout.
