Lidl UK is to invest GBP20 million on a new TV advertising campaign called ‘#LidlSurprises’ which was filmed with real customers in a market to reinforce the quality of its fresh produce. It is the first to focus on the brand rather than seasonal products. Lidl has also announced that it expects its UK sales to breach GBP 4 billion up 20% on last year’s sales of GBP 3.3billion. Lidl also stated that sources 65% of its produce from the UK and will account for GBP 1.75 billion this year. It also exports GBP 250m of British produce, such as Scottish whisky, to the Continent.  According to the latest Kantar Worldpanel data to the 17/08/14 Lidl’s market share rose 3.6% market share vs 3.1% last year.
