Sainsbury’s has entered into  a joint venture with Netto, a subsidiary of Dansk Supermarked, to trial a new store format under the Netto banner in the UK. Through this partnership, Netto is re-entering in the UK with the pilot of its new store concept.

  • As a trial will open 15 Netto stores by end of 2015 with its first store opening in  the North of England later this year.
    • The new store will stock fresh food, Danish breads & pastries along with in-house bakery and new non-food promotions every week.
  • Both, Netto and Dansk Supermarked will invest GBP 12.5 million each into the pilot and will roll out more stores across the UK if it is successful.
  • Previously, Netto exited from the UK in 2010 after selling its operations to ASDA.
